Elkhorn Electropolishing specializes in electro-chemical and chemical surface finish engineering. We process material for the Pharmaceutical, Food and Dairy, Aerospace, Pulp and Paper, Water, and Semiconductor industries. Our Wisconsin location specializes in Stainless Steel pickling, passivation and electropolishing. We conform to ASTM specifications for these processes. We work with ASME BPE and are working toward certification for AMSE BPE -2009 Nonmandatory Appendices E and H for passivation and electropolishing.
Electropolish
Electropolishing is an electrochemical process that effectively removes surface material and imperfections from metal objects. This process serves many purposes from cosmetic improvements to ultra clean surfaces. This process conforms to ASTM B 912.
Pickling
Pickling, aka chemical de-scaling is a cleaning process that involves the actual chemical de-scaling of the metal article. Ultimately, this process removes metallic and non-metallic contamination thereby improving the surface of the object. This process conforms to ASTM A 380.
Passivating
Passivation of stainless steel allows for a more passive and corrosion resistant surface. This process is performed when contaminations such as free iron, oxide scale, rust, etc. are deposited on the surface. This process conforms to ASTM A 967.
We can provide Certifications of Compliance showing conformance to ASTM standards.
